OWL ALERT MAY 10: END VISITATION LOCKOUTS IN SENIOR CARE

ALLOWING ACCESS TO LOVED ONES IN NURSING HOMES

SITUATION:  During the medical emergency of Covid 19, assisted living facilities and nursing homes enforced strict lockdown rules to protect residents’ health.  With careful screening and proper precautions, designated loved ones could be allowed visits, preventing loneliness and harmful isolation.

SITUATION: California State Assembly bill AB 2546 ensures procedures are set up so designated family members or loved ones can offer in-person support and care in future times of crisis.

ACTION: Call or write your Assembly Member and tell them to support Assembly Member Adrin Nazarian’s AB 2546 to prevent lockouts of important family and support persons in senior facilities during future medical emergencies.
